At least 43 Nigerians holding false Mozambican passports are being detained in China on charges of committing various crimes, including trafficking in persons and drugs and acts of corruption.
The information was made public on Wednesday in Maputo by Deputy Attorney-General Lúcia Maximiano during the state visit to the country of Chinese Deputy Prosecutor- General of China’s Supreme People’s Procuratorate (SPP), Qiu Xueqian.
Deputy Attorney-General Maximiano did not specify the number of Chinese citizens detained in Mozambique, but did note that most of the cases are related to environmental crimes.
The two public prosecutor’s offices also analysed matters related to organised crime and the extradition of prisoners on both sides.
