Theatre: Razor in the Flesh, by Plínio Marcos
Razor in the Flesh, one of the most important texts of Brazilian playwright Plinio Marcos, will be presented in dramatic reading format with Cuban actress Nena Vernes, Mozambican actor Guiven Tivane and Brazilian actor Expedito Araujo. It tells the story of a prostitute, Neusa Sueli, who arrives home after a day's work and finds her pimp, Vado, furious because he did not have the money to leave. The two find out that their neighbor from the motel, Veludo, was the one who took the money to give to a boy.
The text is a classic of Brazilian dramaturgy. Written more than thirty years ago, it has already been assembled in countless versions throughout Brazil. By placing a mirror in the face of this harsh reality, Plinio Marcos illuminates aspects of the human condition that communicate with anyone. And they force us to review our concepts.
