U.S. Embassy in Mozambique recruits business delegations for Trade Shows in the United States
Inauguration of the exhibition “Moçambique – José Cabral”
On April 26 at 18h00, the second part of this project will be inaugurated. An unpublished anthological presentation of the work of the Mozambican photographer José Cabral will be inaugurated. This is the result of a partnership between the Camões - Portuguese Cultural Center in Maputo and the Kulungwana Association.
With curatorship of Filipe Branquinho and Alexandre Pomar, the Mozambique-José Cabral exhibition brings together a wide range of photographs, between author's proofs and new prints, presented in two places: the Camões - Portuguese Cultural Center in Maputo and the Association Gallery Kulungwana.
The exhibition is accompanied by the book Mozambique - José Cabral, a bilingual edition (Portuguese/English) of KYZ Books and the Kulungwana Association, coordinated by Alexandre Pomar. The book gathers more than 100 photographs of José Cabral and includes texts by the coordinator and Drew Thompson (United States of America).
In the words of Alexandre Pomar, "José Cabral is the other master of Mozambican photography, traceable between the interrupted collective dynamics and the new generation. An original master, irreverent, individualistic, undisciplined. Sometimes angry and irascible, what his photographs do not let one guess, in the serenity of his itineraries and in the tenderness with which he looks at people, all of them, in his numerous portraits. (...) Culturalized photographer, informed by literature and literary conviviality. Cabral has an exceptional profile."
