About Azagaia
Azagaia, or Edson da Luz, his real name, is a rapper, designer and Mozambican student, author of the controversial album Babalaze, and hits like "Povo no Poder" e "Combatentes da Fortuna". His musical style is more linked to social criticism, and at some point, political, is what characterizes the rapper Azagaia.
He was born in Namaacha, Maputo province, on May 6, 1984, being the son of a Cape Verdean father and a Mozambican mother.
Azagaia is a university student at the Pedagogical University in Maputo. Azagaia began his musical career in the hip hop group Bantu Dynasty, which also included the MC Escudo, with which they recorded the album Siavuma.
He later joined Cotonete Records and released his first solo album, Babalaze. Babalaze's controversy came after the song "As Mentiras da Verdade" was published for the release of the album, bringing a social criticism that was not much heard. Azagaia was the subject of debates in several social layers, economic and age groups, feeding blog posts and many more. Of course the song was censored by some organs.
