About US$60 million is channelled by the government of Canada to Mozambique annually to support various projects aimed at empowering women and girls, Canadian Ambassador to Mozambique Antoine Chevrier said in Nampula this Thursday.
Sheverie said that the money was spent building health units especially in various parts of the country, adding that he was impressed with the projects implemented in Nampula province and the country in general.
According to Ambassador Chevrier, Canada’s funding has contributed greatly to reducing the difficulties that the population faced in accessing basic health care.
The ambassador said that combating underage marriage had been one of the priorities of his government, and a number of civil society organisations dedicated to that aim had been supported by his country in Mozambique, particularly in Nampula.
