More than 2,000 entrepreneurs, both domestic and foreign, are expected to participate in the 12th United States-Africa Business Summit in Maputo from June 19 to 21.
The event, organised by the Mozambican government in partnership with the US organisation Corporate Council on Africa and the CTA, aims to promote business and investment from the US on the African continent.
President of the Mozambique-US Chamber of Commerce Evaristo Madime says that the event presents an opportunity for Mozambican businesspeople to partner with U. and other African entrepreneurs.
Madime notes that levels of trade between Mozambique and the US are low, adding that Mozambique makes little use of the US-based trading platform, AGOA. Exports especially could be expanded, he pointed out.
Without estimating exactly the volume of US investment in Mozambique, Madime says it reaches the billions of dollars, especially in the hydrocarbon sector.
