Luxury real estate developments on an area of approximately 35 hectares in the neighbourhood of Costa do Sol which were planned to start this year have been postponed. The project is on hold pending mobilisation abroad of financing in the order of US$250 million.
Airports of Mozambique chairman Emanuel Chaves has told ‘O País’ that the project schedule has been changed. “Works will possibly start next year,” Chaves said, adding that the delay was a short-term issue which he believed had already been overcome.
Addressing Nacala airport’s low cargo and passenger traffic figures, Chaves said the situation was improving as a result of his restructuring policy. The restructuring, introduced this year, suspends direct flights from Nampula to Nairobi and introduces a mandatory stopover at Nacala.
