Hermínio Chissano also known as Duas Caras (Two Face) is a Mozambican rapper born in 1978 at Aeroporto neighborhood, on the outskirts of the city of Maputo, where he began to drop hits in the mid-90s. As a teenager, he fell in love with rap, with the American rapper Jay-Z as his idol.
As a young man, always serene and introverted, he decided to vent and express himself creatively through rap. It began in 1997 with Denny OG, Dj Damost, Stuped Man and N’Star where the quad formed the group “Troops of the Future”. After the group disintegrated, Gpro was formed with Djo and Cem Paus (ex-Stuped Man). In 2003, the group independently released the album “One Step Forward,” in which Duas Caras showed a line of conscious and educational rap that many did not know. With elaborate rhymes full of refined metaphors and double senses, “One step forward” brought to Mozambican Hip Hop Moz a noble lyricist of distinction.
After two years of touring the country from Rovuma to Maputo, singing in super crowded venues of young people eager to see the boys from the “Marrabenta Country”, with national and international acclamations, Duas Caras interrupted his connection with GPRO ( Fam).
There were several reasons that led to the split between Duas Caras and GPRO, but who actually suffered from this break were fans of the group (and the artist) and the Mozambican Hip Hop. Months later, Duas Caras joins the project Extaka Zero where he adopts the nickname of Xkopeta. With N’Star and Jay Pee he released the album “Do Rovuma ao Maputo”, a fusion of rhythms (pandza and dzukuta in Mozambique) with rap.
Although the album was a success due to sales and shows, Duas Caras “lost” some admiration from some of his admirers who accused him of betraying rap.
In 2006 he announced his return to GPRO for fan satisfaction, with a song titled “Back Home” sung on all rap circuits.
Wrapped in some controversy, he launched “Dirty Dirty”, a response to those who called him a traitor to the sweater he always wore. It was followed by “Dzukupandza”, “1st freestyle of the year” and “Open Presidency”, the latter designed for the Gpro Mixtape project.
Duas Caras left Gpro once again, releasing a single independently during this period, but returned shortly after, where he returned to be the main artist next to Trez Agah where they released the Album GPRO FOREVA.
