The National Institute of Meteorology (INAM) reiterates the warning about the continuation of heavy rainfall, strong winds and thunderstorms in most of the country.
According to the INAM communiqué, strong rains (more than 50 millimeters of precipitation in 24 hours), which may occur in a very strong regime (more than 75 millimeters in 24 hours), accompanied by severe thunderstorms and strong winds with gusts of 60 km/h may occur in some districts of the southern, central and northern Mozambican provinces.
In the southern region, rainfall is expected to occur in the districts of Govuro, Inhassoro and Vilankulo, in the province of Inhambane.
In the centre of the country, in Manica province, the districts of Machaze, Mossurize, Macossa, Manica, Sussundenga, Guro, Gondola, Báruè and Chimoio city may be affected. In Sofala province, the forecast covers the districts of Machanga, Chibabava, Búzi, Nhamatanda, Dondo, Muanza, Gorongosa, Cheringoma, Marromeu and Beira city.
In the province of Tete it will rain in the districts of Zumbu, Mágoè, Maravia, Tsangano, Chifunde, Chiúta, Macanga, Angónia, Songo, Moatize, Mutarara and Tete City. In Zambézia. the districts of Milange, Morrumbala, Mopeia, Chinde, Gurué, Namarrói, Lugela, Mocuba, Namacurra, Nicoadala and city of Quelimane will be affected.
In the northern region of the Niassa province the precipitation will occur in the districts of Sanga, Lago, Mavago, Muembe, Mandimba, Cuamba, Mecanhelas and city of Lichinga.
INAM also warns of the need to take precautionary and safety measures in view of the risk associated with the occurrence of rainfall, severe thunderstorms and strong gusts.
