Mozambique: Vessel movement prohibited in Inhambane Bay
Water levels at the Pequenos Libombos dam, which supplies water the cities of Maputo, Matola and Vila de Boane, have improved from the previous ninety-five million cubic meters of storage to one hundred and five million.
According to Messias Matsinhe, National Director of Water Resources Management, the improvement of the water volume in the Pequenos Libombos dam is due to the rain that has fallen.
“We have recorded significant improvements in volume, but unfortunately, not enough to allow us to respond 100 percent. At the moment, the Pequenos Libombos reservoir is discharging enough to satisfy 80 percent of the water supply needs and we are providing 50 percent of agricultural requirements,” Matsinhe said.
