Mozambique police have detained one of the individuals responsible for the robbery on August 10 on a bus travelling between Maputo and Johannesburg.
Radio Mozambique reports that “the miscreant responsible for the armed robberies is himself an international passenger transport driver”. The same source reports Maputo Police City Command spokesman Orlando Mudumane as saying that the man was apprehended in Maputo on Tuesday thanks to an amateur video.

“The individual detained is the driver of a vehicle that transports international passengers, and therefore already knows the ins and outs of this work. He has been orchestrating armed robberies on buses, seizing money and other belongings from passengers,” he said.
Mudumane added that the other members of the gang were still at large and that the PRM was concerting efforts to locate and arrest them with its South African counterpart.

A Miramar report says that the police identified Francisco Macaringue with the help of an amateur cell phone video, and in coordination with the South African police.
He was found in Maputo’s Bagamoio neighbourhood in possession of a passport stamped for entry into South Africa on August 10, the day of the robbery, but there is no record of him returning to Mozambique.
The accused denies any involvement in the crime (watch the video below) but the police says there are strong indications that he was involved.
