Mozambique records investments of 7.3 billion dollars in tourism
O País / The VIP lounge rehabilitation costs about US$200,000
The Grupo Boutiques de Maputo, supported by Barclays Bank and South Africa Airways (SAA), has rehabilitated the VIP lounge at Maputo International Airport at a cost of about US$200,000, to coincide with the final phase of the rehabilitation of the runway.
The director general of Boutiques of Maputo, Abílio Soeiro, explained that the rehabilitation of the lounge adds quality to the airport and responds to customer demand. Seating has increased from 24 seats to 60, with another 24 on the balcony.
The Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications, Manuela Rebelo, stressed the importance of airport investment, saying it meant airlines of recognised merit starting services to the hub. Rebelo mentioned Qatar Airways, Kenya Airways, Ethiopia Airlines and others, as well as the consolidation of traditional partners such as Portuguese carrier TAP, SAA and, recently, TAAG.
More than 130 people attended the reopening of the VIP hall, including SAA representative Adam Seedat, High Commissioner for South Africa in Mozambique Mandisi Mphalwa, Assembly of the Republic deputies and others.
