Mozambique records investments of 7.3 billion dollars in tourism
TRAC team
Thousands of motorists will be travelling through the Onderberg on their way to and from Mozambique. TRAC has implemented a few measures to make this experience easier.
Traffic on the N4 is set to increase from today, as thousands of motorists travel between Gauteng, Mpumalanga and Mozambique for the holidays.
TRAC has been working hard to prepare for the rush and launched their December campaign, focusing on road safety.
December 15 and 23 are expected to be the busiest days and a large group of emergency services will be stationed at the Alzu Petroport between 10:00 and 22:00 on these days to decrease response time in the event of accidents or other incidents. Entities include ambulances, paramedics, Fire and Rescue services, provincial traffic and pathology units, as well as the TRAC Helpdesk and Roadside Assistance units.
Smaller response teams will be stationed at strategic points on the route, such as Bronkhorstspruit, Middelburg, Milly’s and Mbombela.
TracAssist will be stationed at the Pessene Load Control Centre in Mozambique on both days.
December 22, 30 and January 2,8 and 10 are expected to be more congested, with volumes expected to peak between 12:00 and 22:00.
Construction between Hectorspruit and Komatipoort will be halted between December 14 and January 11. The current permanent contraflow will also be lifted to allow eastbound traffic use the newly constructed section.
TRAC Helpdesk, a 24-hour, emergency call centre, will be playing a vital role in this initiative. They are usually the first to be alerted of incidents on the road, notify emergency services and keep motorists up-to-date regarding the conditions on the road.
Heavy traffic is expected at the Lebombo Border Post and TRAC will be helping the Lebombo Border Control Operational Coordinating Committee with traffic management. This is aimed to prevent mayor delays and disruptions. TRAC will also be providing several logistical requirements and issuing traffic control information flyers to motorists.
Motorists are urged to report road problems such as accidents to the TRAC Helpdesk on 080-087-2264. To stay abreast of conditions on the road, follow @TRACN4route on twitter or visit their website at www.tracn4.co.za.
