Malawi, Mozambique launch investigations into assault of Malawian truck driver by Mozambican police

The Mozambican police have arrested a cook at a gold mine for the theft of eleven kilograms of gold and 24,000 meticais (about 380 US dollars) in cash.
The cook, Saquilo Sagibo, was employed by the company Lean Tesal Mining Penhalonga in the central Mozambican province of Manica.
According to police spokesperson Leonardo Colher, the suspect broke down the door to the office where the gold was stored and carried out the theft.
At today’s prices, the gold has a market value of around 477,000 US dollars.
