Sofala province is to get a new organic sugar factory this year. The plant, currently under construction in the district of Chemba, will be completed by next July and will be capable of producing fifty tons of sugar per day, destined mainly for export.
Speaking after a recent visit to the site, Chemba administrator João Geral Patrício said that the completion of the project would improve the business environment in the district, with communities participating in the production of sugarcane, the main raw ingredient in the production of organic sugar.
