The Ressano Garcia border post between Mozambique and South Africa, and Mozabique’s busiest, will be open 24 hours a day from today until 8 January.
As in previous years, the measure aims to respond to increased traffic during the Christmas and New Year holidays, the Mozambican National Migration Service (Senami) announced.
Operation “Single Stop” will be coordinated by a joint team combining the authorities that operate at the border: the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM), the Directorate General of Customs, the Border Police, Senami, and teams linked to health and agriculture services .
Service capacity will be augmented to five points for passengers and vehicles entering from South Africa and six in the opposite direction. Traffic from South Africa is expected to peak between 23 and 25 December, with traffic in the other direction reaching a high point between 2 and 3 January.
