The registration of political parties as candidates for the October 10 municipal elections in Mozambique starts today, according to the timetable approved by the National Electoral Commission (CNE).
The registration process consists mainly of expressions of interest in running for elections by political parties, coalitions of parties and groups of citizens.
Registration is open until the 26th of the month, and runs concurrently with the nomination of party representatives.
After that, from June 30 and July 2 the CNE will scrutinise the names, symbols and acronyms of the competing parties for compliance with the law.
This in turn will be followed, from July 05 to 27, by the presentation and appreciation of the candidates.Source: Lusa
