Niassa province produced 93.1 kilogrammes of gold last year, 86.2 percent more than expected, AIM
writes. Local authorities had thought only about 50 kilograms of the precious metal would be
produced.
An economic balance sheet report from the provincial government indicates that the performance
was due to improved information-gathering procedures, mitigation of the evasion of reporting by
the artisanal miners and more rigorous inspection in the gold zone.
Gold, well-known as a symbol of wealth, is a metallic chemical element that barely rusts or
discolours at all.
