Weather Alert: Heatwave in southern Mozambique until Friday - INAM
Mozambique is participating in a Zambezi Watercourse Commission meeting today to discuss and assess the implementation of the 2014-15 business plan, approve the organization’s business plan and budget for 2016-17 and elect a new chairperson.
At the meeting in Gaborone, Botswana, Mozambique will assume the presidency of the organization, becoming responsible for defining the broad outlines of the Zambezi Basin strategy, which include poverty reduction, energy security, agricultural production, increased employment, especially in agriculture, economic resilience, environmental restoration, tourism, mines and fisheries production.
ZAMCOM is a river basin organisation set up by the eight countries that share the Zambezi River through an agreement signed in 2004. These are Angola, Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Nambia, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
