Mozambique economic crisis forces closure of more than 100 companies in Sofala
The results of the Mozambican Company Census, a statistical operation carried out between 2015 and 2016, will be released this January, reported the National Statistics Institute of Mozambique.
“The Census of Companies is a statistical operation that aims to collect data on the structure and territorial location of economic and social infrastructure to gain a better understanding of the universality of its activities,” said the statement released by the Business and Company Statistics Department (DESE) of the Mozambican National Statistics Institute.
Data was collected in two phases, the first covering the southern region, from September 2015 to February 2016 and the second between May and September 2016, covering the provinces of the centre and north of the country.
In total, 48,518 economic units were recorded, including companies, institutions and non-profit institutions.
The Business and Company Statistics Department also said the information collected will be used for building and/or updating the Statistical Units File (FUE) in order to improve production and access to quality economic statistics.Source: Macauhub
