Mozambique’s Strategic Plan for Tourism Development 2015/2024 aims to increase the competitiveness of the sector, taking advantage of its potential and providing quality tourist services, said Tuesday in Maputo a government spokesman.
Mouzinho Saide also said the actions carried out after the adoption of the Strategic Plan should allow the development of tourism as a key vector for rapid economic growth in Mozambique and for job creation.
To this end, he said cited by Mozambican daily newspaper Notícias, there is a need to increase the number of visitors, encourage the local hotel industry and also the diversification of products offered that could attract more tourists.
The plan calls for improving the quality of services, staff training and the creation of conditions for more investment in various forms of tourism, including cultural, beach and hunting.
At the same Cabinet meeting the government approved the regulation of travel and tourism agencies and tourist information professionals, a regulatory framework that will govern the licensing and operation of travel agencies and tourism as well as tourist information activities.
