Mozambique’s National Immigration Service (Senami) will strengthen border control during the Christmas season and New Year’s Eve, spokeswoman Cira Fernandes said.
“This is a time of year when the flow of migrants is greatest, and in this context work is being done in order to avoid irregularities while guaranteeing flexibility at the borders,” Fernandes told a press conference in Maputo.
Border control will be reinforced in December at the festive period’s busiest points – the crossing points of Ressano Garcia (Maputo) and Machipanda (Manica).
“Human and material resources have been boosted to make the process more flexible but still within legal standards,” Fernandes said.
