Mozambique: Parliament session opens with Frelimo deputies only
The Minister of Land, Environment and Rural Development, Celso Correia, announced at the end of the Ordinary Session of the Council of Ministers in Maputo on Tuesday that the government had approved a land-use master plan for the Zambezi Valley.
“The plan has been developed on the basis of soil properties and infrastructure already in place, but, above all, it projects our development strategy in space and predicts population growth and all the necessary action for sustainable development, taking into account the river basin, its energy potential and environmental issues.
“In a way, it marks a turning point in the government’s strategy for integrated development. It gives Mozambique an important tool for planning, mobilizing resources and designing a more harmonious development model that responds to the needs of communities,” the minister said.
