Eight police officers are living with colleagues and friends after their homes were torched by the public two weeks ago.
Members of the public claims to have acted in retaliation for the death of a motorcyclist who, on the 15th of this month, crashed and died while trying to escape the attentions of traffic police.
The police officers concerned work in the District Police Department of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) in Palma, in the province of Cabo Delgado.
In addition to burning down their houses, the mob also stole property.
Nine people have been arrested in connection with the incident, and an unspecified number are still at large, assumed by authorities to have taken refuge in neighbouring Tanzania, reports Noticias.
