Mozambique offshore gas fields huge opportunity for country, Italian PM says - Watch
The sixth edition of the Mozambique Mining, Energy and Natural Gas Conference (MMEC-2018) starts on Wednesday in Maputo with the participation of 130 companies and 72 speakers from 20 countries, under the motto “Developing Mozambique’s natural resources for industrialisation and value creation for the country.”
MMEC-2018 is organised by AME Trade, a company that promotes events, in partnership with state oil and gas company Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos (ENH) and the Mozambican Mining Geology Association, and it aims to discuss the different stages of the mining and hydrocarbon industry in the country, from the legal component, to the business environment and the opportunities that may emerge in this area.
The conference will also address the latest developments in the national extractive industry, with presentations and discussions on the status of geological mining potential, liquefied natural gas markets and their impact on the current project and future gas monetisation strategies, current energy production potential, the potential of renewable energies along with issues related to development of energy infrastructure and logistics.
Mozambican legislation considered favourable for investment in the extractive industries
The Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy Ernesto Max Tonela said in a letter addressed to industry professionals to participate in the meeting that “since 2008, MMEC has given visibility to key developments in the extractive industries of Mozambique, becoming an event that is a participation priority for industry members in the country.”
The conference will last two days and the opening will be attended by the Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Max Tonela, the president of ENH and representatives of the National Oil Institute, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Land, Environment and Rural Development and the private sector.
