Watch: Savannah submits three mining lease applications in Mozambique
President Filipe Nyusi has said that the discovery of mineral resources in the country should rather strengthen unity among Mozambicans rather than be a reason for division.
Filipe Nyusi was speaking at a rally on Saturday in the Namanhumbir administrative post in Montepuez district on the last leg of his three-day visit to Cabo Delgado province. According to the head of state, the sharing of wealth among Mozambicans is one way of cementing national unity.
The president urged residents of Namanhumbir to protect mineral resources in the region for their own benefit, and to cooperate with companies legally exploiting them so that the wealth Lying underground could leverage development in the region.
The president further said that Mozambique had open doors to foreign investment, so there was no reason for citizens of other countries to use clandestine means to steal Mozambique’s resources.Source: Rádio Moçambique
