Mozambique: Port of Quelimane seeks US$5.3 million for dredging
Cama chairman John Kapito wondered why the Malawi Bureau of Standards (MSB) has dispatched its officials to Mozambique to test Frotzy, a drink which MSB banned on Malawi drink shop shelves three months ago.
“Why is it that MSB is giving special treatment to this company? We need an investigation,” he said.
Fumed Kapito: “We are bafled, MSB can never be trusted again!”
MSB banned Frotzy in Malawi because of what it said high acidic levels in the drink.
Devlin Chokazinga, MSB director, confirmed some officials are in Mozambique to retest the drink at the request of the manufacturers.
He said MSB will be spending K800000 on allowances and accomodation but the money would be refunded by the manufacturers.
Southern Bottlers monopolise the drink industry in Malawi and the coming of Frozy took the drinks industry by storm.
