Mozambique: Public Prosecutor opposed to building on mangrove area
Domingo
The demarcation and allocation of land for the construction of houses in the Macombe neighbourhood is among the greatest achievements of the Catandica municipal council in Báruè district, Manica province, according to Mayor Tomé Maibeque, speaking in an interview with Domingo about its five-year tenure from 2014 to date.
The new residential neighbourhood under construction is located along the EN7 near the Macombe monument erected in honour of the warriors who resisted colonial penetration in the Báruè uprising.
The hope is to accelerate the development of the municipality by replacing the traditional houses – either ‘maticadas’, or made of wood and zinc with walls of sticks or raw brick – with modern masonry homes.
