The president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Thomas Bach, arrives at Mavalane International Airport this evening at the head of a seven-member delegation whose priority is the on-the-spot verification of sport’s status in the country.
Bach is due to meet the leadership of the Mozambique Olympic Committee and associated national federations, and will be received at the airport by a delegation led by the president of the National Olympic Committee and possibly also the Minister of Youth and Sports, Alberto Nkutumula.
After a reception dinner in one of Maputo’s hotel resorts, the delegation will on Thursday proceed to the headquarters of the Mozambique Olympic Committee and meet outgoing and incoming presidents Marcelino Macome and Aníbal Manave.
After this, Bach goes to Boane, where he will visit the Mabanja Health Center and Olympafrica, a youth training centre.
The delegation then returns to the capital to speak to the media at the headquarters of the Olympic Committee of Mozambique at 12:30 p.m. An audience with President Nyusi has not yet been confirmed.
Departure for Angola and much the same agenda again is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. tomorrow.
