The National Inspectorate of Economic Activities (INAE) in Zambézia incinerated more than 3,600 counterfeit CDs in Quelimane on Monday.
The CDs were seized in March from commercial establishments in Quelimane, Nicoadala, Namacurra and Mocuba.
Irene Basílio, interim INAE delegate in Zambézia, said that the incineration was aimed at defending copyright and discouraging piracy in the audiovisual industry in the province.
Reproducing CDs without respect for the copyright of the author greatly damaged both the artists and the economy of the province, Basílio said.
