Mozambique's central bank cuts key rate for second meeting in row
A mission led by Mr. Michel Lazare, IMF Mission Chief for Mozambique, will visit Maputo from 1 to 12 December 2016 to initiate discussions with the Mozambican authorities on a new program. These discussions will continue into the first quarter of 2017.
In September 2016 the authorities requested the Fund to resume discussions on the financial support as soon as possible. As indicated at the time (see press release PR No. 16/436 of September 29, 2016), solid track record of implementation of sound macroeconomic policies and an effective initiation of the audit process in the near term would help to create the conditions for a possible resumption of program discussions with the IMF.
Since then, these conditions have been created, making room for the next mission.
