Mozambique: Chinese company denies accusations
The France-Moçambique Business Club has been nominated to succeed Switzerland in the presidency and secretariat of the EBC (European Business Club – https://www.facebook.com/European-Business-Club) for 2017.
Created in 2015, the EBC brings together economic and diplomatic representatives from 15 European countries. Its members are the business clubs, chambers of commerce, and embassy economic services departments of Switzerland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Sweden, Australia, Finland, Portugal, Spain, Great Britain and the European Union. The EBC has the support of the European Ambassador, Mr Sven Von Burgsdorff, in addition to that of the ambassadors represented.
The EBC represents about 600 European companies, and its main objective is to expand business networks and facilitate implementation and to follow up on the businesses of established companies, marshalling efforts to find viable platforms for collaboration with government with a view to finding solutions to the problems faced by companies.
In addition to coordinating the services of the French business community, the France-Mozambique Business Club is in charge of coordinating the actions of all EBC events. In that capacity, the Club is organizing, with the support of the French Embassy, the first EBC event for 2017 on 16 February, which will also serve as the official launch of its presidency.
On this occasion, French ambassador in Mozambique, Mr Bruno Clerc, invites all the representatives of the countries associated with the EBC and its member companies to the Embassy Residence for cocktails. About 150 participants are expected to be on site.
The event is sponsored by renowned European companies Mazars, DHL, Société Générale and Pernod-Ricard.
Money collected during the event will be donated to two charity projects selected by the EBC: the “Wamina Girl” project that helps young Mozambican women manage their menstrual cycles in order to safeguard their rights to health, training and dignity, and ‘Lécole-orphelinat Alulamile’, headed by NGO ASAS, which fights poverty in Matutuine district. This project also intends to construct toilets to improve children’s hygiene and health conditions.
