Four individuals have been detained by the police in Inhambane accused of looting during Cyclone Dineo on Wednesday night.
The opportunists, some of them in cars, were collecting sheets of zinc torn from roofs and yards by the force of the wind, and also took advantage of the fear paralyzing families to plunder other valuables.
This opportunism occurred mainly in Massinga, Maxixe and Inhambane municipalities, where the zinc sheets were selling for fifty meticais.
The price of the used zinc sheets attracted the attention of a member of the public traveling the neighborhoods in the morning in an attempt to recover property scattered by the cyclone.
He informed the police who followed the trail of clues and arrested the detainees.
