The foundation stone of the new 12,000-seater Matola Stadium was laid on Wednesday. Construction is expected to last a year and a half.
After having invested in the purchase of a club in Portugal to facilitate the transfer of Mozambican players to Europe and signing a partnership with FC Porto for the projection of new talents, the Black Bulls Association made another step in its Wednesday contribution to the development of Mozambican sports.
The ceremony was witnessed by the mayor of Matola, Calisto Cossa, national soccer coach, Abel Xavier, the patron of the Black Bulls Academy, Junaid Lalgy, and other figures linked to the sport.
For Abel Xavier, the infrastructure is of paramount importance for Mozambican football, and will offer many young players a place to showcase their talents.
Project costs have not been revealed. The Black Bull Association was founded in 02008 and has been responsible for the transfer of many Mozambican players abroad in recent years.
