Mozambique and China to boost cooperation in agriculture and electricity
The European Union has reiterated its commitment to cooperating with the Mozambican government in its programmes to combat hunger and meet its millennium goals agenda.
The guarantee was given on Tuesday in Tete by European Union representative in Mozambique Daniel Evassor at a meeting to evaluate the implementation of the millennium goals programme.
Evassor said the European Union would continue to invest in the country, pledging EUR325 million for food and nutritional security rural development programmes through to 2020.
He added that the implementation of EU-funded programmes required good governance and complementarity between EU and the Mozambican government actions.
The director of the office of the national coordinator for cooperation, Faizal Cassamo, said that he hoped that the country’s hunger eradication goals would be achieved by 2030, although there were still many challenges ahead.
