Mozambique: Nyusi praises 'orderly' election campaign at Frelimo meeting in Beira
O País / Head of the EU delegation in Mozambique Sven Kühn von Burgsdorff
The European Union has expressed its readiness to support the upcoming local and legislative elections in the country, even though the National Elections Commission has not yet requested budget support for the 900 million meticais needed.
The EU ambassador to Mozambique Sven Burgsdorff says the bloc will continue to support Mozambique, even in the context of the United Kingdom leaving.
Burgsdorff was speaking on Friday at celebrations in Maputo of the 60th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome, the European Union’s founding document.
Ambassadors present at the event, representing the 28 members of the European Union, said that the bloc should focus on social aspects in the support they provide to Mozambique.
The European Union is based on the principles of peace, democracy, social justice, and was created after the two world wars.
