TVM / Gildo Marques said that the black-out was caused by a road accident which brought down a vital power transmission pole.
Power supply was restored last night to the city of Pemba, capital of the northern province of Cabo Delgado, which had been in darkness since Saturday following damage to the medium voltage power line feeding the city.
Electricity of Mozambique representative Gildo Marques said that the black-out was caused by a road accident which brought down a vital power transmission pole, adding that the renewal of the city’s electricity supply involved technicians from various levels of EDM.
The power cut last Saturday affected more than half the city of Pemba, namely Paquitequete, Ingonane, Natite, and Cariacó, and disrupted Mozambican Women’s Day celebrations.
Losses resulting from the outage have not so far been assessed.
