The Mozambican cabinet today approved a proposal for a law establishing the principles and procedures for international legal and judicial cooperation, a spokesman has announced.
“The proposal establishes principles and procedures for the legal and judicial cooperation of the Republic of Mozambique with other states,” Augusto de Sousa Fernando said after the cabinet session in Maputo.
The proposal foresees Mozambique cooperating in criminal matters not only with other countries but also with international entities, the Council of Ministers spokesman said.
“The law is subsidiarily applicable to cooperation in matters of criminal offences, in the phase in which legal terms run before administrative authorities and infractions that constitute an offence of mere social order, whose procedures admit recourse to courts,” de Sousa Fernando added.
The proposal will be submitted to the Mozambican parliament for final approval.
