The Minister of Transport and Communications, Carlos Mesquita this Monday, June 1, swore in new National Director of Transportation Security, Paulo Zaca Ricardo, the new head of the Cabinet of the Minister, Sérgio Hortêncio Rodrigo and the head of the Administration and Finance Department, Óscar Graça Baptista.
Paulo Ricardo, who replaces Avelino Chiche, who held the position since 2011, holds a Masters in International Development from the International University of Japan. Until his appointment, Ricardo was a Ministry of Transport and Communications staff member assigned to the Management and Execution of Acquisitions Unit.
The new head of the Cabinet of the Minister, Sérgio Rodrigo, replaces Sérgia Langa who had been in charge since 2013. Rodrigo holds a degree in International Relations from the Institute of International Relations and previously served as assistant to the Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications.
Óscar Baptista, who succeeds Olga Matumbela as head of the Department of Administration and Finance, has a degree in auditing and at the time of his appointment was head of the Administration and Finance Department at CFM Turismo, a unit created by the Mozambique Ports and Railways company to manage its tourism assets.
Speaking during the inauguration, Mesquita said that the appointments aimed to give new impetus to the sector. “We need to pay special attention to the promotion of road safety, where we lose human lives and public and private assets,” said Mesquita, adding that he also expects increased dynamism from the new Chief of the Cabinet, particularly in the expediency of proceedings and other activities assigned to him.Source: A Verdade
