Mozambique: Mobile fintech stalls are an alternative to unemployment in Maputo

The Bank of Mozambique will host on the 11 and 12 of May 2017, the 5th Annual African Mobile Phone Services Policy Initiative (AMPI), a regional initiative of the Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI), launched in Zanzibar, Tanzania, on February 15, 2013.
The aim of AMPI is to promote Financial Inclusion through collective political solutions that contribute to boost digital financial services in Africa. It also provides a platform for high-level discussions on the ecosystem of mobile financial services, knowledge sharing as well as scientific and technical workshops on good practices concerning matters of innovative financial services, with emphasis on digital services.
This event takes place within the framework of rotational leadership chaired by the Bank of Mozambique in 2016, under the theme “Promoting changes toward Financial Inclusion through innovations in Africa”. Around 120 participants, between nationals and foreigners, are expected to attend this event, which will be preceded by a capacity-building workshop for member countries’ regulators to be held in Maputo, on 9 and 10 May.
