Experience on protection of Maiombe forest, considered one of the “lungs” of the planet, was presented at the 21st UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 21), taking place in Paris, France.
Angolan minister of Environment, Fátima Jardim, who attended the workshop on “Reforestation through poverty reduction” held Sunday on the sidelines of COP 21, said that the forest covers, apart from Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Congo Brazzaville and Gabon and is an important area of environmental sustainability, which all must contribute to its preservation.
The event expected to end on December 11 is described as a unique opportunity for the countries to contribute to the adoption of a new global climate agreement.
The event also allows to share developed projects and actions as well as seek partnerships, enabling the expansion and replication of mitigation actions and combat the effects of climate change.
