Mozambique: Annual inflation in 2023 of 5.3 per cent

Minister of Economy and Finance Adriano Maleiane has reconfirmed prospects for domestic economic recovery next year, with the gross domestic product forecast to grow by 5.5 percent, more than the 4.5 percent initially planned and later revised down to 3.9 percent.
Growth will however be fuelled by strong austerity measures. The government has announced cutbacks in several areas, including subsidised travel costs by government officials and the cancellation or postponement of non-essential projects whose implementation has not yet begun.
