Two Maputo women are in police custody accused of torturing their 17-year-old nephew with an iron.
The victim claims that one of his aunts heated the iron up and burned his stomach with it, and that the pair also tied him by the neck to a grid and poured boiling water on him.
The boy’s aunt said she did it because her nephew stole from her, but claims she didn’t mean to him.
The other women said “I was in the room with a kettle of hot water and I poured it over his body”.
Maputo province PRM spokesman Emídio Mabunda said that after investigations were concluded, the accused appeared troubled by what they had done, for which reason they were both imprisoned in a PRM jail.
