Thirty-four percent of the doctors in Mozambique are not registered to practice, the Order of Doctors’ chairperson António Zacarias told the second congress of the Medical Community of Portuguese Language in Maputo on Thursday (September 21).
The Order of Doctors says the fact that 34% of the 3,752 doctors in the country are not registered constitutes a real danger public health, since it is not known for certain what their qualifications are.
The event was attended by academics and researchers with the aim of sharing experiences and finding solutions for those who are facing the challenges of globalisation, as portrayed in the congress’s motto.
