University professor, researcher and resident political commentator in SOICO TV, José Jaime Macuane, left on Tuesday the Maputo Private Hospital, where he had been undergoing medical treatment since May 23, a day after he was abducted and shot by individuals so far unknown and at large.
Jaime Macuane’s leaving hospital took place five days after he was subjected to a second surgery in the femur to place a metal plate.
Thursday’s surgery was the second since the day of the crime, when doctors removed the bullet.
José Jaime Macuane was kidnapped on the morning of May 23 last as he was leaving his residence in the neighbourhood of Coop, in central Maputo. Once kidnapped, Macuane was taken to the Marracuene district of Maputo province.
It was precisely in a piece of wasteland in Marracuene that the goup of kidnappers simply shot the university professor, hitting him with four shots and abandoning him lying on the ground.
However, they (the kidnappers) first told José Jaime Macuane they “had been ordered to leave him lame.”
