"Classical music in Russia and the world around the Revolution" Art Direction: Kika Materula
Orquestra Juvenil Xiquitsi, is the result of the work that has been developing since March 2013. Through her, there were several names of Erudite Music and Mozambican Traditional Music. This is another project under the brand Kulungwana and its artistic direction is in charge of Kika Materula since its foundation.
The Xiquitsi project began in March 2013 in two aspects: Maputo's Classical Music Season and the Formation of Mozambican Orchestras and Choirs, both interconnected, as all the invited musicians of the Season give workshops, lectures and music workshops for young graduates.
This project has today more than 200 students among children and young people of the public schools of Greater Maputo, who come from the most diverse social strata and who have free and free access to the teaching of music. The project is inspired by what is considered the greatest example of successful social insertion through collective teaching of music - the Venezuelan "The System".
Since its foundation Xiquitsi has collaborated with a wide range of public, private and accredited Embassies in Mozambique
Names such as Nicola Paskowsky, José Olivetti, Sara Braga Simões, Mário Alves, Caroline Modiba, Avri Levitan, Xuan Du, Audun Sandvik, Sveinung Bjelland, Natasha Kudritskaya, Chen Halevi, Manuel Rego, Maya Egashira, Fernando Arias, Daniel Moreira, Carlos And others, have been part of a wide range of artists who have collaborated with Xiquitsi over the past four years.
Xiquitsi is a project developed by the Cultural Development Association Kulungwana and its artistic direction is in charge of the oboist Mozambican Kika Materula since its foundation.
