Paintings from the sky by Rob van Doeselaar
The Dutch artist painter Rob van Doeselaar was educated at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Since then he has gone on to produce a multifaceted oeuvre. He paints with oil on canvas and acrylics or mixed media on paper. He has made and printed lithographs and woodcuts. He now experiments with iPad drawings and paintings, which frequently appear on his blog.
Since 1990 Rob has lived and worked in many countries and continents, such as India (New Delhi), The United States (New York), Senegal (Dakar), Ghana (Accra), Mali (Bamako). He currently resides both in Mozambique (Maputo) and The Netherlands (The Hague), sharing his time between the two countries. These travel impressions and experiences are thematically connected to his paintings. With every change of place particular stories, different insights and new questions emerge.
During the years Rob has been inspired by the rhythm of the place, the impressions of the streets, all kinds of visual expressions and other details in daily life. These perceptions strongly influence color, style and use of materials in his paintings.
Rob van Doeselaar also paints portraits that are commissioned. He has built an extensive experience with it since 1980.
Rob is member of the Haagse Kunstkring (The Hague Art Circle)
