Marrabenta with Dilon Djindji
Dilon Djindji (born 1927 in Marracuene), is a Mozambican musician. He is considered one of the pioneers of Marrabenta.
Djindji is a son of a peasant and in his youth discovered his love for music by building improvised instruments and made his first performance at the age 12. Dilon was a pastor and worked for some years in the South African mines.
Around 1960 he revolutionized Marrabenta and became a legend with the band Estrelas de Marracuene. He was also part of the international group Mabulu and together had six European tours.
