Island of Mozambique in the Voice of the Poets
Spoken and sung poetry. Based on the work of the same name, published by Nelson Saúte and António Sopa (1992), the poetry show intends to honor the Island of Mozambique, the first capital of Mozambique and the material heritage of humanity designated by Unesco since 1991. The island was sung in poems by several lovers of the word, from the famous Camões to poets founders of the national letters like Campos de Oliveira, Tomaz Gonzaga and others like Jorge Sena, Rui Knopfli, Gloria de Sant'Anna, Alberto de Lacerda, Luís Carlos Patraquim, among others.
To the hitchhiker of the anthology coordinated by Saúte and Souza, we hope that this "gesture can ignite in the conscience of men, not only the urgency to preserve this patrimony but also the urgent need to investigate our history, thus going back to time immemorial, P. 10. Perhaps the celebration of the Island of Mozambique awakens in the new cultists of the word the need to pay homage to other places on this immense balcony over the Indian Ocean, as Eduardo Lourenço once called it.
