Conversation with Celestino Mudaulane at Machamba Criativa
"The Base is the Floor": Through the representation of mythical characters, delirious characters staged narrative and historical scenes, as well as festive, religious and everyday scenes, the artist reports us to a pertinently critical sense of the social, political, economic and cultural relevance of a reality that is strangely close to us.
Celestino Mudaulane was born on March 17, 1972 in Maputo. He graduated in History at Eduardo Mondlane University, and trained in ceramics at the School of Visual Arts in 1992. He was a professor of drawing, skills and visual arts at the Instituto Nilia.
Created the course of visual arts in the Cultural Center of Matalana and gave ceramics courses for women artisans in Nampula, Cabo Delgado and Niassa. Today he leads a double life as a teacher at the National School of Visual Arts and as an artist.
